Judge – Mr Ian Layfield
My thanks go to the exhibitors for my entry. There were seven absentees. Of those present there were six that I had judged before, so it was good to have a chance to go over the others as I have only watched them from the ringside, and we all know how dangerous that can be. A couple of things that were prevalent on the day. One was unclean ears and although I did not see any soreness there is no excuse for not ensuring they are free inside from long hairs and dirt. That is something easily solved but what concerned me the most was that there were more than a few whose ribs were not carried well back so are ‘tucked up’. That is not what a Clumber should look like. I gave up asking for exhibits to be moved on a loose leash although some would have moved better if they had been.

I have waited all year to get my hands on this chap and it was worth the wait. For one still young he has a presence. The best of heads with good eyes and a typical expression. Correct bite. A straight front and correct feet. Plenty of bone. Good length, level topline and defined hindquarters. Low set hocks. Moved as a Clumber should. I am not one for awarding the top spot to a dog which still has a lot to come but it would have been unfair to deny him the CC & BOB.

He has been slow to mature but now presents a pleasing outline. Good head but I would like a bit more work in it. Clean eyes, correct bite. Straight front and well-placed shoulders. Good length and strong hindquarters. Probably, by far, the fittest on the day. Moved well and at one with his handler.
2nd | Whissgig Daddy Cool - Sheppard
Sheppard’s Whissgig Daddy Cool. A larger framed dog and carrying weight today. A masculine head. Correct bite. Deep chest with plenty of heart room. Well off for bone. Defined hindquarters. Low set hocks. Moved OK when settled. 3

Another that I really like, and he oozes breed type. Great head, eyes and expression. Correct bite. Straight front and good feet. Strong neck and well-placed shoulders. Deep chest. Plenty of length. Strong hindquarters. Today, I felt there was something not quite right about him. RCC.

Like his type though probably a little bigger framed than some others. Good head and clean eyes. Correct bite. Plenty of bone. Nice, large feet. Good depth and length. Well angulated hindquarters. Movement let him down today.

A pair of beautifully presented puppies. Caught my eye. Sweet head and expression. Lovely eyes. Correct bite. Good front and feet. For one so young she has a pleasing outline complimented by low set hocks. Moved well. BP.
2nd | Janost Love Be The Reason - Abbott
Very much a baby. Feminine head but lacks stop. Straight front and good feet. Another with a nice outline for her age. Sympathetically handled. Moved well. However, there is something about her that needs to change if she is to have a future.

Litter sister to my DCC winner. I have watched her and now know why she has done what she has. Difficult to fault. Best of heads and eyes and a lovely, soft feminine expression. Correct bite. Good reach of neck. Well boned. For one so young she has depth, good length and is broad across the croup. Strong hindquarters. Moved well. She too could not be denied the CC today.
2nd | Beskerby Luminescent - Dawson
Of a different type. Soft expression and clean eyes. Correct bite. Good front and shoulder placement. At this stage of development looks a little square but has plenty of time. Best tail carriage of the day but movement let her down.

It was great to see her and have the chance to go over her again. The best of heads and an expression to die for. Correct bite. Neck, shoulders, front, feet, depth, length, hindquarters are great. A little portly today and moving rather stately but wonderful for her age. Still has the wagging tail of a puppy.
